Party Fashion Tips from Bae Boutique’s Jo Hoddes!

To help launch my Christmas romantic comedy novel, Mistletoe Mansion, Jo Hoddes, from fab Bae Boutique has offered a fab prize of a £100 party dress voucher as part of an easy, fun Pinterest competition! (Details at the bottom of this page). Here fashionisita Jo gives us her best tips for that special festive outfit!

What do you think is this year’s must have accessory for a Xmas outfit?

Definitely a small, simple clutch.  Whether it be metallic, colour pop or just plain black – it finishes off your Christmas outfit perfectly.

When buying a dress, what do you think is the most important thing to consider?

Definitely dress for your age and your size.  Being in my mid-forties, I know that the days of mini’s are now long gone (unless you want to look like Coronation Street’s Liz McDonald!). Classic pencil dresses, tailored skirts, and blazers ooze sophisticated class.

Also, always buy the size that fits you rather than the size you think you are.  All brand sizing is different, so trying on and finding the correct and most flattering fit is important.

Have you always been interested in fashion/worked in fashion or is Bae a completely new venture?

I’ve always been interested in fashion and styling and know that if you put an outfit together correctly with the right shoes and accessories, you don’t need to spend a fortune.  Although my background is in PR and Marketing, I did have a designer clothes shop in Alderley Edge, Cheshire a few years back. I definitely believe that more and more people are now wanting to avoid the queues, car parks, unforgiving mirrors and pushy sales assistants hence my website Bae.Boutique was born – we like to call it “Cute without the Queues!”

What would be your top tip for holding a glam Xmas party?

Champagne, Champagne, Champagne and mistletoe of course!  Who needs anything else?

How would you accessorize the classic LBD? Matching shoes and handbag or a bit of colour?

The LBD is the most versatile piece and an absolute must have in every girl’s wardrobe.  You could go for classic and simple diamonds or pearls, go metallic with silver or gold clutch, shoes and accessories or go funky with a bit of colour pop.  My personal favourite would be a small leopard print clutch and skyscraper black heels.

What fantastic advice, thanks Jo! And if you fancy winning one of her AMAZING dresses to wow your friends, why not enter this competition? All you have to do is put together a dream Xmas party Pinterest board and then link it in the comments, to my publisher’s competition Pin (CarinaUK) – simples!!
